Apple and Blueberry Crumble

Everyone will love this winter dessert, with a warm fruit base and crunchy oat crumble topping.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 800g can pie apples
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries (see note)
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup flaked almonds
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 30g butter, melted
  • 4 scoops extra light vanilla ice-cream, to serve

  • Method

Preheat oven to 180°C. Combine apple, blueberries and sugar in a bowl. Spoon into a 4-cup capacity ovenproof dish.Combine oats, maple syrup, almonds and cinnamon in a bowl. Stir in butter. Sprinkle crumble over fruit mixture.Bake for 40 minutes or until top is golden. Serve warm with ice-cream.

  • Variation: Replace frozen blueberries with fresh blueberries or raspberries or a 400g can of black pitted cherries, if you prefer.
